Naftalan oil is, in fact, non-combustible resinous, paraffin-free oil that does not contain fractions in the form of gasoline or kerosene. The main active ingredient of Naftalan oil is naphthenic hydrocarbons, which have analgesic, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic properties. İn addition to aromatic hydrocarbons Naftalan oil contains also resin, the composition of hydrocarbons is very similar to the set of human hormones (androgens, estrogens and corticosteroids). Naftalan oil is dark brown liquid with specific odor.

Naftalan oil is used not only as therapeutic baths, but also in the form of tampons, for lubrication of mucous membranes of gums, throat and nose, as well as for inhalation, to reduce internal inflammation, vaginitis and intestinal inflammation. The maximum therapy duration is approximately 15-20 days. During this time, patients take 10-12 baths at regular intervals under the supervision of medical specialists. Naftalan baths are prescribed at a temperature of 38 °C, average duration of a bath is 8-10 minutes. This oil is very useful in the treatment of musculoskeletal system diseases. For this purpose, patients are prescribed Naftalan baths: general, seated and chamber. In some cases, Naftalan lubrication heated with a sollux lamp is applied.
